Guest post: Don’t judge a cell by its coat

Since I’m currently on a mountain retreat with my lab, I’ve spent the past few days giving presentations, learning to ski and playing games. The weather and surroundings are truly beautiful and we’re all having a great time. Because I really should be working on the assignment for tonight, I just wanted to point you to a guest post of mine that was published at Lab Rat’s blog. It’s about a cool paper on the evolution of a protein that was always believed to be exclusive to eukaryotes – or so we thought. While you’re there, you should check out the rest of Lab Rat’s blog, it’s definitely worth your time! Lab Rat is a biochemistry student with a fascination for the prokaryotic world. She’s got a real talent for writing about complicated principles in an accessible way. It’s safe to say that I’ve learnt more about bacteria by reading her blog than I did from my biology textbooks and courses! Of course I was honored to write a post for her blog, and I would like to thank her for the opportunity.

That was all for now,  be sure to check in again during the weekend for a new blog post!
