Since it’s the end of year, everybody is looking back what the past year has brought them and what the future might bring. While I’m not a big fan of most traditions (most of them don’t make any sense), I think it’s worthwhile to take a step back every once in a while to reflect on the past and look forward to the future.
I started Thoughtomics this year, and I must say it is one of the best things I’ve done in 2009. It feels good to have a place to share thoughts and insights on things that interest me. Thoughtomics has yet to celebrate its first anniversary, but I’m glad to see where it’s going now. You see, when I started this blog I did not have a clue where it would be going. As I wrote more and more, I realized I enjoyed writing about the topics that I love, like science and evolution.
Researchblogging inspired me to write about technical scientific publications on bioinformatics and evolution, and you’ve seen a number of those articles appear on this blog. I’ve tried (and sometimes failed) to write these blog-posts in an accessible way, while still trying to convey the principal findings of the paper. You can expect more of those posts in the next year. What I want to do more coming year, is to write about issues that are not necessarily related to recent scientific publications (I consider my last post to be a good example). The past year, I’ve almost succeeded in posting something every week (26 posts in 7 months). Coming year, I’ll try to increase the posting frequency a bit, since I enjoy writing so much and I still feel I’ve got a lot to share with the world. Thanks for reading and I hope to see you next year!

I’m looking forward to your posts in 2010!!
Looking forward to the continued posts! I think researchblogging was my main reason for writing science-related blogs as well, and it encourages me to actually read papers.
